UEFA doubles FIFA in compensation to clubs for releasing their internationals

The UEFA has announced, as MD has known, the amounts that will be distributed among the clubs that transfer their players to their different national team competitions. Every four years since 2008 it distributes a part of the income from the EURO to these clubs as a result of the agreement signed with the European Football Club Association. As this newspaper has learned, for the current cycle of the program linked to Euro 2028, the amount to be distributed will amount to a total of 240 million euros. In addition, 4 million euros remaining from the previous benefit cycle for clubs are still available for distribution.

The distribution criteria for these 244 million will be as follows. Of them, 104 will go to the clubs that have loaned and will loan players for the last Nations League, such as the one that begins next September along with the qualifying phase for the 2028 Euro Cup, which is scheduled to begin in March of next year. In this case, friendlies between national teams that coincide with these dates are never taken into account. Nor the friendlies that have just been held prior to the World Cup. Taking into account the planned number of matches (588), the estimated figure per player (23) and per match (2 teams), the daily amount is 3,845 euros

The amount will be calculated according to the category of the clubs

And then there are the remaining 140 million that will go to the clubs that release their players for the Euro 2028, which will be held in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. As in the last edition, the total amount will be calculated according to the category of the clubs. Depending on whether they are considered first, second and third category. So the intention is for a team in the first group to earn around 10,200 euros per day. Up to 6,800 in the second category and 3,400 in the third category. Then clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Inter Milan, Arsenal, etc. will receive these ten thousand euros per day for each player who participates in the next final phase where Spain will defend its status as current champion.

This represents almost tripling the amounts that FIFA compensates the clubs that loan out their players for this World Cup. As we already reported in MD on June 6, FIFA will allocate 305 million euros to the clubs, which represents an increase of 70% compared to the last World Cup in Qatar 2022. This represents about 4,200 euros per day for any of the 48 teams. This represents an intermediate amount in UEFA and in case of being between the second and third level clubs.
