Checo Pérez is 100% sure that he will race for Red Bull in 2025
Checo Pérez reiterates, prior to the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix, that the team knows why it renewed him and based on that data he is totally sure that he will race for Red Bull in 2025
Weekend after weekend the same question is repeated and, despite the rumors and even the results, Sergio Perez reiterates that he is 100 percent sure that he will be a pilot Red Bull in F1 in 2025, because the team has the information that led them to make that decision.
Questioned during the press conference prior to the Qatar F1 Grand Prix, Czech Perez He was emphatic when asked if he was 100 percent sure he would race for Red Bull next season.
“Yes, exactly,” he said.
Before, the Mexican, who currently occupies eighth place in the Drivers’ Championship and has not yet been able to win any Grand Prix in 2024, explained to David Croft, from the Sky Sports network, why Red Bull renewed him, since he insisted on the issue of performance.
“I think, at the end of the day, the team has all the information, there’s a lot I can say here.
“There is a reason we extended my contract during the year and the team has everything (what they need to know). We know exactly where we are in terms of performance, in terms of problems and difficulties that we have had.
“We are a team and we know exactly where everything is internally, so we are working very hard as a team to move forward and get back to having a much better season than the one we just had.”
Checo Pérez believes that he can still change things and that he is close to it, when there are only two Grand Prix left to finish the season, the one in Qatar on December 1 and the last one in Abu Dhabi, in two weeks.
“I think with the set-up we are getting closer. We probably didn’t have the pace in Las Vegas that we had in Sao Paulo, but I think there are some promising signs that things are to come. We weren’t as competitive in Las Vegas in terms of team order, but I think there should be a good track for us here.”
Once again, Pérez spoke of the spectacular start to the year he had with Red Bull with four podiums in five races, but that then looked completely reversed, once the season touched European soil.
“It was one of my best starts to the year, with four consecutive races on the podium; things were looking very good,” said the six-time race winner. “But as soon as we got back to Europe, I think our season took a 180 degree turn. Other teams improved and found a lot of performance, for our part we got a little lost with the car.
“There were a lot of weekends where things weren’t working, a lot of weekends have been too difficult in terms of we’re looking at all areas (of the car), and at the end of the day there’s only so much.” A lot can be done on a weekend where we ended up losing a lot of points and the season was much more difficult.
“But I think that’s how things are in Formula 1, sometimes things don’t go the way you want. “We are still here and we are optimistic that we can turn things around as a team, especially for next year.”
At the conference, they insisted that he explain what difficulties he has experienced and that is what the 34-year-old Mexican responded.
“I think it’s very difficult for people to understand that they are not part of the team, or that they are not present every day, why from one race to another. another you are so far away.
“I think that when you are not able to get 100 percent out of your car, it is irrelevant how good the car is and (this) is what has happened. I have not been able to get 100 percent out of my car because of the difficulties that I have had in the last few months and I think that is the main problem.
“I think as a team we understand each other and we’re working hard to make sure we can fix (the issues).”
