Charros and Cañeros take the lead by opening the semifinals in LMP

Jalisco and Los Mochis, playing as visitors, defeat Culiacán and Hermosillo, respectively, to open the LMP semifinals with victories
HERMOSILLO, Mexico — The Charros de Jalisco counted on a solid start from Manny Bañuelos, to beat the Naranjeros de Hermosillo 2-0 on Saturday, at the start of their best-of-seven series for a place in the Final Series of the Mexican Pacific League.
Former major leaguer Bañuelos pitched five scoreless innings, while on offense Daniel Castro stood out 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and Alfredo Hurtado with a double and an RBI.
After five innings in which the score was not opened, it was the sixth inning when Jalisco took the lead. Daniel Castro opened the round with a double, advanced to third with a sacrifice bunt by Billy Hamilton and scored on a bad turn to first base by the defeated Damián Mendoza.
In the seventh, the pitcher Mendoza himself hit the first in the Charros order, Jack Mayfield, who took advantage of Donovan Casey’s touch of the ball to go to second, and with a double from Hurtado he scored the final 2-0.
