Confirmed: Tadej Pogacar will not run the Europeans

It was an open secret and this Wednesday it was definitively confirmed: Tadej Pogacar will not be in the Europeans that are being held this week in Slovenia, his native country. The five-time Tour winner continues to recover from the hard fall suffered in the Vuelta a España and will not be able to defend his continental title.

Pogacar returned to training at the end of last week and, according to El Periódico, he would have tried to accelerate his recovery to be on the starting line of the European Championship. Despite having received approval from the medical team, UAE Team Emirates ruled out their participation and will finally have to watch the race on television.

The Slovenian Federation made official this Wednesday the list of cyclists selected for the event. Primoz Roglic, Jan Tratnik, Jakob Omrzel, Gal Glivar, Matevz Govekar, Luka Mezgec, Matej Mohoric and Domen Novak are the chosen ones. In this way, Pogacar will continue to focus on his recovery with his sights set on next season.
