Alcaraz and Jódar will share prime time on the second day of the Tokyo tournament

The second day of the Tokyo tournament will bring us the debut of the four Spanish players in the running. Three of them will play on center court, with Jaume Munar opening at 4 a.m. Spanish time against Taylor Fritz (3).

Frances Tiafoe (2) and Kei Nishikori will then take to the court to close the morning session. It will be at 9 in the morning when an afternoon session begins that Carlos Alcaraz will debut in his duel against the American Alex Michelsen.

After him the time will come Rafa Jódar who, around 11 o’clock, will face the Paraguayan Daniel Vallejo.

Already on court 1, and around 12 in the morning, the new champion of the Chengdu tournament will play, Alejandro Davidovich, against the Italian Matteo Berrettini.

The first day of the tournament left us this Wednesday with the victory of the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (no. 31 ATP) over the American Tommy Paul (no. 16).

Tabilo beat Paul 6-1 and 6-2 in one hour and 13 minutes on the Ariake Colosseum court, covered in the middle of a streak of more than a month of continuous rain in the Japanese capital, dominating an a priori, tough challenge over the American and making up for his premature elimination at the ATP 250 in Chengdu.

This is the Chilean’s first victory over Paul, against whom he was defeated in their two previous matches in 2024. With passage to the round of 16 assured, Tabilo will face the winner of the match between the Canadian Denis Shapovalov (n.46) and the Japanese Sho Shimabukuro (n.108).
