Lucas Trejo, 38, was concentrating with the team in Caracas when the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes occurred on Wednesday afternoon, according to CNN.

He immediately returned to La Guaira – the state most affected by the disaster – where he found “a Dantesque scene,” according to Ricardo Ardiles, Trejo’s brother-in-law, told CNN. “There was absolutely nothing left of the building,” he said.
