An Argentine soccer player loses his wife and two children in the La Guaira earthquake

Lucas Trejo, 38, was concentrating with the team in Caracas when the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes occurred on Wednesday afternoon, according to CNN.

He immediately returned to La Guaira – the state most affected by the disaster – where he found “a Dantesque scene,” according to Ricardo Ardiles, Trejo’s brother-in-law, told CNN. “There was absolutely nothing left of the building,” he said. Nearly 1,500 people died and tens of thousands remain missing, Venezuelan authorities reported Sunday.
