Malmö fires Miguel Ángel Ramírez
He Malmo, the most successful football club in Swedenannounced this Tuesday the dismissal of the Spanish coach Miguel Angel Ramirez after nine league games due to poor results
Ramírez, 41, had been presented last December for the new season, which in Sweden began at the end of March and will end in October, but the club has decided to do without him due to the “poor results” given that the players had not evolved “in accordance with our objectives”the club reported in a statement.
After nine league games, Malmö occupies the twelfth place with 10 points, 15 behind the leader and after conceding four consecutive defeats, something that had not happened since 2008.
The Spanish coach had trained the Saragossa of Second Division the previous season, in addition to Sporting de Gijón, Independiente del Valle (Ecuador), Charlotte (United States), Internacional (Brazil) and Al-Wakrah (Qatar).
Ramírez has been the second Spanish coach in the history of Malmö, after Antonio Duranwho between 1964 and 1971 won four leagues and a Cup and is considered one of the club’s most prestigious coaches.
Malmö has accumulated 27 leagues and 16 cups, the most in all of Swedish football. Last season they had finished in sixth position, without qualifying for any European competition.
