LeBron James, on Donald Trump’s attacks: “A day with little news at the office”
LeBron Jamesstar of the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA, responded this Thursday to criticism from the president of the United StatesDonald Trump, for not solemnly listening to the national anthem and assured with a smile that it was “a day with little news at the office“.
Asked in the locker room after the 29-point comeback achieved by his 76ers against the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron reacted with a smile and twice repeated “a day with little news at the office.”
He did so after Trump attacked him for not maintaining a solemn attitude when the national anthem was played before his team’s game in New York last Tuesday.
“While our national anthem plays, LeBron James disrespects our country! I said from the beginning that it is worthless; It’s a total shame!“Trump wrote in a message on social networks that was accompanied by a video in which James is seen during the anthem rehearsing, without the ball, the shot, as well as his golf swing.
“LeBron James should apologize to all those great American warriors and heroes! “Who died for the flag of the United States and for everything our country represents!” adds the message from the American president.
Trump has attacked the Philadelphia Sixers basketball player on numerous occasions, who has also harshly criticized the president.
In September 2017, during Trump’s first term, James disqualified the New York magnate after he withdrew his invitation for the Golden State Warriors to visit the White House after Stephen Curry – a well-known Republican critic – opposed attending.
The former Cavaliers, Heat and Lakers player, who has publicly supported all the candidates who have competed with Trump in presidential electionshe then wrote on social networks “Going to the White House was a great honor until you appeared!”
The American president has in turn accused James of being unintelligent or even racist and has taken the opportunity to say that he considers Michael Jordan a better player.
