"We have a lot of faith in each other": Félix Páez Molina and Argentina's candidacy to organize the Rugby World Cup

In one of the first statements as the new president of the Argentine Union, Felix Paez Molina referred to the candidacy to carry out the Rugby World Cup in Argentina in 2035.

“We are very excited. It is all very incipient. We have done the logical administrative processes, with the authorization of the national government, we have made all the presentations. Now we have to continue working, continue fulfilling the requirements requested by World Rugby, wait and be very patient because this will not be resolved until the 2027 World Cup in Australia.”he clarified Paez Molina to Scrum.

On the other hand, the man from Córdoba admitted: “We have a lot of faith in each other. I think that Argentine rugby deserves it, that it has grown a lot from 2008 to date and that also shows that at some point it deserves recognition from world rugby. In addition, Sudamérica Rugby, which is the one asking for the place, has never had a World Cup. It has been in all latitudes except South America, so today South American rugby deserves it: Los Pumas not to mention their growth, Chile and Uruguay again in the World Cup… I hope we get it”.

It should be noted that the negotiations to bring the World Cup event to South America have been going on for a considerable time but the consolidation of Sudamérica Rugby together with the Super Rugby Americas as a professional and strong competition helped World Rugby to set its eyes on this part of the globe and be taken into account.
