VRAC wins rugby league in a movie ending

The Argentine flyhalf of VRAC Quesos Entrepinares, Baltazar Taibo, has given his team the fourteenth league titlewith a throw to clubs with time expired, in a very competitive and spectacular final.

Not only was it a new final for the main favorite for the league title, VRAC Quesos Entrepinares, the most consistent of the teams in the honor division, but it was accompanied by an important emotional component, as it was the last game of its captain, Kalokalo Gavidi.

Hence, the Valladolid team came out with everything to take the initiative on the scoreboard in the 3rd minute, thanks to Baltazar Taibo’s conversion for a penalty hit committed by the rival defense.

But Burgos once again demonstrated his great quality, and his ability to react since, in the 11th minute, he added the first try to his locker, from Iñaki Mateu, after a great play, with several “pick and go” and perfect execution after the opening towards three quarters.

The Burgos team thus took the lead (3-7), with the transformation of Santi Mansilla, and that gave them wings to, from the defense, deploy all their weapons in attack, where they took advantage of the contact phases to generate a lot of danger.

So much so that Tomás Domínguez would add another mark for Recoletas, making use of that forward power, with good, constant and effective support, which expanded the visitor’s income, thanks also to Mansilla’s effectiveness in hitting shots.

Incidents: Match corresponding to the final of the Rugby Honor Division, played on the Pepe Rojo fields in front of more than 2,500 spectators. At the end of the match, a tribute was paid to the captain of VRAC Quesos Entrepinares, Kalokalo Gavidi, who confirmed his retirement after 14 seasons in Valladolid.

VRAC reacted to close the gap, with a try by Sergio Molinero on the wing, after a touch-maul, and the conversion by Taibo (10-14), but that did not intimidate Basso’s team who, with one less, added another mark before the break, to leave the score at 10-21.

But the locals were not willing to give any more and came out in a rush after the restart, to add two tries with which they turned the result around, by Martiniano Cian after a kick to follow, and by Baltazar Taibo, with a perfect three-quarter play.

A 12-0 run for VRAC, which knocked out the Burgos team, although they took advantage of local indiscipline to regain the advantage (22-24), with five minutes remaining.

But the people of Valladolid did not give up, and made the most of the last possession to cause an infraction by the Burgos defense that Balta Taibo was responsible for converting into three points, to leave the title in Valladolid.
