The Spaniard Mikel Landa was injured five kilometers from the goal in Tiraba, Albania in the first stage of the 2025 Giro. He was transferred in ambulance.

The final descent at the beginning of the race was a torment for the Spanish cyclist of the Soudal Quick Step team.

In a curve lost he left the route, crashed into the platform and had a blow that left him on the floor. He received immediate medical attention and left the competition in Camilla. An ambulance took him to a hospital in the Albanian capital.

It was the first abandonment of one of the favorites of the race in which he podium in 2015 and 2022.

The first leader of the 2025 edition is the Danish Mads Pedersen, winner in the Sprint of the goal.
