He WTA 250 of Bogotá It already has its finalists confirmed and, to the disappointment of the local public, there will not be any Colombian players fighting for the title on the last day of competition. This, after the incredible defeat of Emiliana Arango (106th in the world ranking) in semi-finals: Hungarian Panna Udvardy came back and won 6-7 (6), 6-3 and 7-6 (5).

In general terms, parity reigned. In fact, the first set lasted more than an hour and after four breaks – two per side – it was decided in the tiebreak. Everything was very even there too, although finally the local player managed to take it over after a tight 8-6.

The match had a stoppage in the middle due to rain, which interrupted the course of the match for several minutes, when Europe was already up 4-3 in the second set. On the return, the Colombian lost her serve and, in the next game, the set, taking everything to the decisive stage.

In the final set a misfortune occurred for Arango and the audience present: when it seemed that the victory was left for Emiliana, by serving 5-2 (with two breaks in her favor), the unexpected happened and that is that Udvardy slowly generated an epic comeback, remaining with four consecutive games and, later, with a close tiebreaker 7-5.

In this way, the 27-year-old tennis player wrote her name in the definition, where the number 1 player of the tournament awaits her: Marie Bouzková (26th), Argentina’s executioner Jasmine Ortenzi.
