Total disaster for Ferrari at home: strong accident for Leclerc and previous contact with Hamilton

They arrived with a new engine with more power and more improvements and on the grid they both started from an unbeatable position at a start where slipstream is key: the second row. They could go for the lead with both cars. But what happened was quite the opposite. A total disaster, and in the stands, many tifosi cried when they saw one of their idols, Leclerc, against the wall due to a hard accident.
The day before, hamilton He said that being 59 points from the lead, Ferrari had to work as a team after not having a slipstream from its teammate in the classification. And the day after, Lewis was the first to violate that principle at the start.

Red flag: Leclerc hits the barriers
Leclerc, outside the normal racing line due to this overtaking by Oscar, entered the curve somewhat destabilized, and when he gave the gas at the exit, he lost the car behind, perhaps by stepping on the drain located in that exit area of the green-painted curve.
His car was spat against the wall at full acceleration in a crash that was dangerous, somewhat dazed by the tremendous impact. But luckily, without consequences for Leclerc who sat down to catch his breath and accept what had happened. The stands were crying.
The ‘tifosi’ had lost one of their great chances of winning at home and Hamilton was 8th after being able to pass Bearman, far from the winner, with a red flag on the track.
