Tomateros defeats Cañeros and will compete for another title in the Mex-Pac

Culiacán defeats Los Mochis in the sixth game of their semifinal and advances to its twentieth Final Series in the history of the Mexican Pacific League
CULIACAN, Mexico — Luis Verdugo He hit a pair of home runs and drove in five runs, David Reyes released seven solid episodes, and the Culiacán tomato trees they defeated 6-2 to the Sugarcane growers of Los Mochis Saturday night, for advance to the Final Series of the Mexican Pacific League.
The Tomateros took the semifinal four games to two and starting on Tuesday, when they will be home in the first two games, they will host the Charros de Jalisco at the start of the so-called Mexico Series.
The winner of four games, out of a possible nine, will be awarded the champion trophy, which from this season bears the name of Fernando Valenzuela and the ticket to the Caribbean Series that starts on January 31 in Mexicali, Baja California.
Returning to the game, Cañeros was the first to score in the second inning when Éric Meza started with a single, advanced with a bunt by Marco Jaime, reached third base with an infield hit by Alan Espinoza and scored with a hit by Roel Santos.
The advantage disappeared at the end of the same inning, when Cristian Santana and César Mendoza received walks and immediately Luis Verdugo hit a panoramic home run through the left field against the defeated Braulio Torres-Pérez, to turn the game around.
In the fifth inning, Víctor Labrada sent the ball over the other side of the fence to bring the Cañeros within 3-2.

Tomateros sealed the victory and the ticket to the Final in the eighth inning, when they loaded the bases with a walk to Esteban Quiroz, a hit by Joey Meneses and another base to Dwight Smith Jr. Efrén Navarro “from caballito” drove in one after receiving a transfer and Verdugo another with a ground ball to the anteroom.
Reyes – winner of the second game of the series – allowed only five hits with two earned runs, a walk and four strikeouts, to take the victory.
The defeated Torres-Pérez pitched two and a third innings, allowing three runs with three hits, three walks and one strikeout.
Tomateros will play its twentieth Final Series in its history in search of its 14th title.
