Historical day that was lived in the Shanghai Masters 1000. Valentin Vacherot (204th in the world ranking) defeated Novak Djokovic (5th) in the semifinals of the Chinese competition by 6-3 and 6-4 and achieved passage to his first definition at the ATP level.

This result, in addition to causing a strong shock throughout the circuit, will bring important changes in the world ranking. Djokovic, for his part, lost the chance to get back into the Top 4 and, of course, get a direct ticket to the ATP Finals, a competition that brings together the eight best of the year.

However, the strongest thing is the Vacherot ranking. The 26-year-old from Monegasque made sure to climb -at least- 146 positions, going from 204th to 58th on the planetfor his pass to the final. Clearly, its best historical location. If consecrated in Shanghai, it will be 40°.

In the final there will be a family reunion, since Arthur Rinderknech (54th) beat Daniil Medvedev (18th) 4-6, 6-2 and 6-4. It should be remembered that the Frenchman and Vacherot are first cousins.
