The surprise comes with the former Atlético Ruggeri

Matteo Ruggeri24 years old, left this summer Atlético de Madrid to join the Aston Villa after only one course at the Metropolitan. His level was not up to expectations and now he is under the orders of Unai Emery.

His start was not very encouraging since despite the departure of Worthythe starter for the Spanish coach in that position is Maatsen. However, the Dutchman’s injury has opened the door of ownership for the giant left-hander and he is taking advantage of it. The villains, with a very bad start to the season, have achieved two wins in a row in which they have played all 90 minutes.

His performance has had a surprise reward: the call to the Italian team. At first he was not on Mancini’s list, but Dimarco’s injury has meant that he is his replacement.

In this national team break with up to four games, he will have the opportunity to vindicate himself and start going more frequently. In Italy his call was not expected since if he was not a starter for Atleti he was not expected to be a starter now that he is a substitute – except for Maatsen’s injury – but it seems that Mancini sees him with better eyes than Gattuso did at the time.
