La Laguna extends the sponsorship agreement with CB Canarias for two years

He La Laguna City Council and the CB Canarias have closed an agreement through which the municipal corporation will extend two more years of sponsorship of the first team aurinegro, which will continue to be called The Tenerife Lagoon.

The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrezand the president of the CB Canarias, Aniano Cabrera, have presented this extension of the collaboration between the parties at a press conference, por amount of 1.4 million euros per year but whose return “quadruples” this amount, the councilor has emphasized.

Both have expressed their desire that “this idyll lasts a lifetime” because La Laguna and the Canarias “cannot be understood without each other,” they have agreed.

Luis Yeray Gutiérrez He has pointed out that when the option of sponsoring the club arose “we knew it was risky” and that there were voices that suggested that it would be “a problem”, but in the long run the opposite has been proven: that “it is profitable” for the city and that it enjoys “majority” social support.

Aniano Cabrera He thanked the local corporation for its commitment and conviction that “it was an opportunity for everyone”, and valued the extension of this sponsorship, as it allows the entity to plan for the present but also for the medium term.

Asked about the amount of sponsorship, at a rate of 1.4 million euros per year, the mayor of La Laguna indicated that the club told him that for the moment they don’t need to check it but that it would be studied if necessary.

A new pavilion

Beyond the sponsorship agreement, the mayor and president have also discussed the possibility that the club could play in a new pavilion.

“La Laguna will have its pavilion,” proclaimed the mayor, who has spoken of “an urgent need” to have these new facilities, since in addition to sports activities it would host income and large events that he intends to remove from the city center for the residents’ right to rest.
