The NBA plans to use artificial intelligence to referee objective situations
Adam Silver NBA commissioner, assured this Wednesday that he plans incorporate systems with artificial intelligence for arbitrate objective situations during league games.
“It’s like hawk’s eye, there you quickly see where the line was and if he touched it. We are going to move to a system in which this entire category of decisions will be automatic. (…) Those decisions will be made by an automated AI system, with cameras placed around the track,” Silver said in an interview on an ESPN network show.
“That will take all those supposedly objective calls out of the referees’ hands. It will be instantaneous, it will be automatic. It will just keep playing. (…) You won’t have to deal with ‘challenges’ about those types of plays”he added.
