The F3 drivers put the Madring to the test just over two weeks before the Spanish F1 Grand Prix

With just over two weeks until Madrid hosts the Spanish F-1 GP, those responsible for the Madring will be waiting today, Monday and tomorrow, Tuesday for all the details in what will be the first official session with single-seaters on the new track at IFEMA, the official mid-season test of the FIA ​​Formula 3 Championship.

Luis García Abad, director of the Spanish Grand Prix, stressed that the tests will allow the circuit to be validated in real conditions, especially in terms of safety, operations and competition. The 31 cars of the category will be on the track, with the presence of the Spaniard Bruno del Pino who led the team half an hour before the end of the morning session. This Monday there was practically no activity until after the first hour due to a red flag due to ‘track conditions’ and another due to the impact against the Christian Ho barriers.

Although a month ago it was Scuderia Ferrari that was in charge of opening the circuit for the first time for a ‘Filming Day’, the promotional activity regulated by the FIA ​​that allows teams to travel a maximum of 200 kilometers (100 km per driver), with Pirelli exhibition tires, it is Formula 3 that is in charge of doing the general rehearsal with this first official session that is being held behind closed doors.

Then it was Ferrari who deployed the device, installing the technical equipment, tools, communication systems and all the material necessary to carry out the promotional day in its garage. This time, as it is an official FIA test, it will no longer be a ‘simulation’.

Both days the morning sessions will begin at 9am and finish at 11.50am, before 10 minutes of snatch practice leads to a lunch break. From 2 to 4:50 p.m., with another snatch practice segment, will complete this afternoon’s session. And this Tuesday the afternoon session will be from 1 to 3:50 p.m.
