The curious coincidence of England’s last visits to Argentina

The England RFU officially announced that La Rosa will face a total of three tests in July visiting the Argentina and USA. The union itself assured that it will reveal more details in the coming weeks of what the return of the European team will be after eight years, when the English left with two wins in 2017, for 38-34 in San Juan and 35-25 in Santa Fe.
The coincidence is that the Rosa’s last visits were marked by the absence of players called up by the British & Irish Lions. As on that occasion, the team England will be affected by those summoned by Andy Farrell for the Lions tour Australia.
The British and Irish team had a three-match tour of Australia in 2013 and New Zealand in 2017, while England faced The Pumas in Argentina. On both occasions, the two tests played on national territory ended with victory for the visitors.
In 2013, the players who were absent from the visit to Argentina to be part of the multinational team were Dylan Hartley, Tom Youngs, Dan Cole, Alex Corbisiero, Matt Stevens, Mako Vunipola, Geoff Parling, Tom Croft, Ben Youngs, Owen Farrell, Brad Barritt, Manu Tuilagi, Billy Twelvetrees and Christian Wade.
In 2017, the Englishmen who were not about to wear the Lions shirt were Jamie George, Dan Cole, Joe Marler, Kyle Sinckler, Mako Vunipola, Maro Itoje, George Kruis, Courtney Lawes, James Haskell, Billy Vunipola, Ben Youngs, Owen Farrell, Jonathan Joseph, Ben Te’o, Elliot Daly, Jack Nowell and Anthony Watson.
