The best in the Challengers of the year 2024
The best in the Challengers of the year 2024. No more, no less. Yes, these were the great revelations of a season that went very strong.
These are some names that the ATP itself highlighted:
For the second consecutive year, an Argentinian topped the ranking of most Challenger victories. Camilo Ugo Carabelli posted a season record of 49-16. He won three titles, lifting the trophy in Piracicaba, Santa Cruz de la Sierra and Villa María.
Damir Dzumhur32, enjoyed a year of resurgence, claiming six Challenger titles, and returning to the Top 100 for the first time in four years. He was unstoppable in the finals, winning 12 of the 13 sets played in six title matches. The former world No. 23 triumphed in Barletta, Ostrava, Zagreb, Santo Domingo, Istanbul and Maia.
Jacob Fearnley won four Challenger tournaments. The Brit went 27-3 this season on this circuit, including a 17-match winning streak.
Powered by Challengers, Fearnley, 23, who graduated from Texas Christian University in May, has made the biggest jump into the year-end Top 100, rising 539 spots to No. 99. It’s the biggest jump into the Top 100 year-end since 2019, when Jannik Sinner rose 685 places.
At 17 years and 11 months, the Brazilian Joao Fonseca became the youngest Challenger champion of 2024 with his win in Lexington. Then he shined in the Next Gen Finals, of course.
Six players were crowned champions not only of the ATP Challenger Tour, but also of the ATP Tour: Luciano Darderi, Alejandro Tabilo, Mpetshi Perricard, Arthur Fils, Nuno Borges and Benjamin Bonzi. Tabilo, Mpetshi Perricard and Fils won two titles at the ATP level. Mpetshi Perricard, 21, is the first player in a decade to win multiple ATP Tour and ATP Challenger Tour titles in one season.
