Spain arrives in Sao Paulo with qualification for the final phase guaranteed

The Spanish women’s rugby 7 team closes the regular phase this weekend in Sao Paulo (Brazil) of the second category of the World Series without pressure, since Montevideo assured on Sunday its participation in the three stages that will settle the title.

In the season of its implementation, the ‘SVNS 2’ division has consisted of six teams that have competed in three tournaments with a league format, whose four first classified teams will join the eight teams of the first category in the stages of Hong Kong (April 17-19), Valladolid (May 30-June 1) and Bordeaux (June 6-8).

After the Nairobi and Montevideo tournaments, Spain is third with 34 points that guarantee its presence in the final phasefor which Argentina and South Africa are also mathematically qualified, while China, Kenya and Brazil will play for the last place at the Nicolau Alayon stadium in the capital of São Paulo.

In this Brazilian stage, the national team will debut against South Africa on Saturday at 3:06 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time) and then they will face China (18:40) and Kenya (21:06), to close the tournament on Sunday against Brazil (17:50) and Argentina (20:40).

María Ribera brings back in Sao Paulo the same twelve players who were second last week in Montevideo: María García Gala, Paula Requena, Olivia Fresneda, Ana Cortés, Juana Stella, Carmen Miranda, María Calvo, Marta Fresno, Marta Cantabrana, Denisse Gortázar, Silvia Morales and Abril Camacho.
