Shohei Ohtani reaches 50 games in a row reaching base and reaches milestone
Shohei Ohtani extends his streak of reaching base with the Dodgers to 50 games and ties the third-best streak in franchise history
DENVER — Shohei Ohtani extended to 50 consecutive games his streak reaching basefor tie with the member of the Hall of Fame, Willie Keelerin the third longest streak of the franchise of Los Angeles Dodgers from 1900according to AM850 Research.
When it seemed that Ohtani would lose the streak, after failing in his first four at-bats, in which he reached base twice due to an error and an interference, a two-out infield hit by pinch-hitter Will Smith in the ninth inning extended the inning and gave the Japanese the opportunity to hit.
Ohtani faced reliever Víctor Vodnik and on a 1-1 count he hit a hit between first and second bases to get the hit, although it did not prevent Los Angeles’ 4-3 defeat against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
The Dodgers’ record for most consecutive games on base belongs to Duke Snider since the season 1954when he got 58 matches. In 2000, Shawn Green was cut short by achieving the club’s second best streak with 53 matches. Keeler added the 50 matches in 1900 and 1901.
