Santos Borré returns to River Plate

River Plate announced this Saturday the signing of the Colombian striker Rafael Santos Borré (30)who signed a contract until December 31, 2029 and will face his second stage at the Argentine club, where he was one of the figures of the team that won the Libertadores Cup of 2018.

“Rafael Santos Borré is a new player River Plate. The forward signed his contract until December 31, 2029,” the club reported in an official statement. The Argentine club paid 2.5 million dollars to Internacional from the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre.

Before making his incorporation official, the Colombian explained that the coach Eduardo ‘Chacho’ Coudetwith whom he coincided at the Brazilian club, was decisive in accepting the return.

“We are putting together a great team and I am very excited. Chacho is a very competitive coach. That was important in making the decision to come,” Borré told the press after passing the medical examination.

He also highlighted the evolution of his career since his first experience at River: “A footballer returns with much more experience and personality on the field. With a different vision of the game, of spaces. When I left I was very young. I come a little more complete.”

The 30-year-old attacker returns to the millionaire team from Internacional de Porto Alegre, after a first cycle between 2017 and 2021 in which he played 149 games, scored 55 goals and won six titles, including the 2018 Copa Libertadores, the 2019 Recopa Sudamericana and the 2017 and 2019 Argentine Cups and Super Cups.

The forward left River in mid-2021 on a free basis, after the club could not acquire the percentage of his pass that still belonged to the Atlético de Madrid.
