Roberto Bautista will say goodbye to tennis with an exhibition against Marin Cilic
Roberto Bautistawho this year played his last season as a professional, will play one last farewell match in Castellón, with an exhibition duel against the Croatian Marin Cilic next December 19.
The tennis player from Castellón has decided to abandon his sporting career after winning a dozen ATP titles, a Davis Cup with Spain and being 9th in the ATP ranking. His last official match was played in this year’s edition at Wimbledon, where he lost in the first round against the Brazilian Joao Fonseca on June 29.
His rival at farewell, Marin Cilic, has won 21 ATP titles, one Grand Slamas well as a silver medal in the 2021 Olympic Games and has been number 3 in the world ranking.
The match that both will play will take place on December 19 at the Plana Sport facilitiesin the capital of Castellón, the courts that saw the birth of the Benlloch tennis player.
In addition, a heartfelt tribute will be paid to Roberto Bautista a few days before, on December 15, at the Provincial Tennis Gala to be held at the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón.
