Pirates tells angry fans: the equipment is not sold

In a festival, annoying fans shouted to the CEO of Pirates that the owner Bob Nutting must sell to the team
Pittsburgh Pirates executive director, Travis WilliamsHe said the organization is committed to winning, but declared frustrated fans that the owner Bob Nutting It will not sell the equipment.
Williams addressed fans frustration for Nutting’s property on Saturday during a question and answers session at the Annual Pirate Fan Fan Festival.
While Williams answered the first question, a fan present shouted: “Sell the team”, which caused some audience applause. At that time, several fans began to chant: “Sell the team!”
Greg Brown, the television commentator of the Pirates for a long time, asked fans to stop chanting and be “respectful.” Another fan then asked Williams, who was sitting next to the general manager of the Pirates, Ben Cheringtonand the manager Derek Sheltonand why Nutting was not present.
“We know that, at the end of the day, all this is passion that has become frustration in relation to winning,” said Williams, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I think the points you are raising in terms of ‘Where is Bob?’, We have us here, we are here to run and make sure to win.”
Williams added that Nutting, who has owned the Pirates since 2018, had planned to attend the event and interact with fans at some point later on Saturday.
“To answer his immediate question before, Bob is not going to sell the team,” said Williams. “He cares Pittsburgh, he cares to win, he cares that we put a winning product in the field, and we are working to achieve it every day.”
Nutting has been widely criticized by local fans and media in recent years, since the Pirates have worked hard at the bottom or near the end of the classification of the central division of the National League.
The Pirates had a 76-86 record last season on their way to their fourth last place in the last six seasons. They have not ended with winning record since 2018, they have not arrived at the playoffs since 2015 and have only three post -season appearances since 1992.
“We know there is frustration, frustration because we are not winning, with the expectations of winning,” said Williams. “At the end of the day, that is not due to the lack of commitment to want to win.”
