Pedro Martínez: “We survived the bad times”
Pedro Martinezcoach of real Madridstated that “mentality is more important than tactics”, after proclaiming himself champions of the first Euroleague Super Cup of history by beating in the final the Olympiacos by 89-93 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The Barcelona coach, always self-critical, acknowledged that his team “needs to improve” and that in the third quarter his players went through a “horrible moment”, although he praised their personality for winning a very close duel against the current European champion.
“Congratulations to my players. They believed despite having a horrible moment in the third quarter against a great Olympiacos; but we survived those bad times. Personally, in the fourth quarter, I think we didn’t play too well, because we didn’t pass the ball, but it’s preseason and we need to improve. Despite this, mentality is more important than tactics,” he said to the Euroleague microphones at the end of the match.
