Oscar Piastri: “I won the race I wanted to win”

The Australian spoke after his triumph in the Miami GP, the fourth of the year, and that allowed him to stretch his advantage over Lando Norris and continue dominating McLaren’s internal battle.

Oscar Piastri is granitic, never lets a feeling escape. The current Domber of Formula 1 has the same face after some error or a memorable triumph like the one he got in the Miami GP, sixth date of the season. Yesterday was a complicated day, the classification was the most difficult of the year. The result is impressive. “I had a great first round and then the rhythm was incredible. I knew it immediately that it was going to be like that,” he said. And, of course, then it was time to have to go to Verstappen, something at all simple. “When you have to go to Max there is no guarantee. After I passed it I knew that Lando would be fast and that’s why I tried to make the biggest difference. I learned in my years of looking at Max and running with him that going outside is not a place where you want to be. I clearly had more rhythm, but I knew it was going to be hard”
