Mpetshi Perricard, the Most Improved Player of the Year
The Frenchman, with a powerful serve and one-handed backhand, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard was selected Most Improved Player of the Year.
He started the season playing Challengers and closed 2024 no less than with two ATP titles (Lyon and Basel), a second week of Grand Slam and having managed to enter the Top 30.
A little more than ten months were enough for one of the pleasant appearances on the circuit. Having played only five ATP matches before 2024, the 21-year-old, 203 centimeters tall youngster, posted a 16-12 record this season.
As a wild card at the ATP 250 in his hometown he saved a match point against Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the final before winning a dramatic third set tiebreak to take the trophy.
In Switzerland, he was the lowest ranked champion in the tournament’s history. A mark of almost 50 years in the ATP 500.
