After the first part, it was worth introspection on the legacy that Agos Alonso tries to leave on his journey, what happened this year with his beloved Club Banco Nación and how far he thinks he will be able to give his all to the Argentine national team, to also give himself the time to build the life that – outside of sport – you want to build.

Agostina has a virtue that makes her unmatched among her peers and he enjoys it like nothing else in the field. Alonso escapesof the problems they generate, of the challenges they throw at her and the situations that make her complex, but this time he decided to stop moving away and take the gauntlet to state what the legacy that today has her as one of those in charge of propagating it represents:

First I am Leona… and then I am”

“So in everything. On the street, first I am Leona, I am representing a team with infinite values, with an impressive legacy, so I have to be super respectful and super kind. We are shop windows, we have to be super responsible for how we show ourselvesI think that was the hardest thing for me to learn, but that is the message or what I want to reflect when I am playing dressed as Banco Nación, first I am a Leona and I have to behave as such because Las Leonas are the best and I want them to When people see any of us, not Agos Alonso, anyone, they continue to think that we are the most and keep the image of the Lionesses up there”.

Alonso in a stronghold in Las Leonasfor years she has maintained a formidable level on the field, and a conduct outside that has led her to be a flagship in each team she joined, but… when did she realize that she could occupy the place she has today?: “I don’t know if it was a dream to arrive, because I don’t know if I imagined playing here, for me they were so good, that I don’t know if I could be there. When they called me from Junior it was a very big surprise, I began to see how, ‘hey, I’m not that far away‘. Obviously I always tried hard, in the club I wanted to be the first physically, play the whole game, on Saturdays I loved being there, if I was in sixth place I would stay in fifth; I knew that with effort good things came and it was like a motto within the sportbut in Junior I started to see it as: ‘if I really dedicate myself, can I get there?’ Can I follow this lifestyle? And how do I do it?’ And I think that was the first time I started to think about it. Maybe Las Leonas need a “5”, who is neat, passes the ball… and “I started to dedicate myself to that a little,” conjectured the five.

“The priority is always in Las Leonas”

August She is one of the U-21 world champions in Santiago de Chilewho when they moved to the senior team in 2017 they encountered legends (such as Carla Rebecchi, Rosario Luchetti, Silvina D’Elia, Belén Succi… to name a few) who marked the path for those young players who finished Junior in 2016 and today they play the role of guiding future generations: “I was very lucky to meet at the age of 20, when I started in Las Leonas, with great references that I would like to be a little more like.. I try to do it, they are the ones who instilled in me that the priority is with the national team, that you can love your club a lot, have or want to pursue a university career, but the priority is always in Las Leonas. You can have a life beyond this, but Las Leonas is a lifestyle. Do the other because it is great as a tool, but always in order to be better here. I think it’s a double message, you shouldn’t not study, or not go to clubs, I’m not saying that, but you start to see things from another place”, alleged the analytical voice of the women’s team.

In December 2023, Las Leoncitas became runners-up in the world and there were several who after that moment broke into the senior team, others already had some friction but after the Junior World Cup they began to occupy a role with the first team that led them to stand out in Paris : “Just these four girls (Juana Castellaro, Zoe Díaz, Lara Casas and Sofía Cairó) didn’t surprise me, obviously at first they did, but In the Olympic Game I already knew that they were going to perform well and that they were going to break it because I saw them all year with the ease, freshness and audacity that they have to play; because many are quite brave to play and their pulse does not tremble when defining a penalty, for example. On top of that, the group was made up of a lot of ages, different cultures because the older ones were there with their way of life and the others came to revolutionize everything and make a super fun group that helped us a lot.”.

“Now, It is super positive that they have already instilled how to behave, because there are a lot of things to be a model and tomorrow, at 25 years old, these girls, together with Vale Raposo, will play in an Olympic Game having experienced everythingwith a lot of experience that they will contribute to the team and to future generations to come.”, Alonso speculated.

Argentina’s number five has fulfilled various desires throughout her hockey career, but there is one that is still in the pipelineready to be written, but it would lead to another that no sports lover would want to come… the end: “With the Argentine shirt I accomplished many more than I ever imagined.like a dream, with Las Leonas, I want a gold medal before it’s all over. I don’t set deadlines. They have no value. I think you only know when you don’t enjoy it more, you don’t want more, or you don’t plan your life the way you did it.. Always in the ideal that a technician does not come and tell you, ‘that’s it’. But I think it’s going to happen. I’m not going to do it forever, I see myself doing one more process, I would like to play one more Game and, speaking for the sake of speaking, not continuing after the next Olympic cycle.

Furthermore, Alonso emphasized: “Life is much more than hockey. Obviously today is a big part of my days, but I feel like there are a lot of other things to enjoy. Hockey, being a priority, doesn’t allow you to do it the way I would like. I did a career and I would also like to see how it goes devoting myself full time to being a kinesiologist, which is what I studied. I think there are a lot of things in life that are so good to live.. If I continue doing hockey it is because I have not yet found anything that fulfills me as much as this, but, the moment it arrives, I will know how to say: ‘I want something else‘”, he synthesized August.

Banco Nación and the return to the First Metro Division

Maybe without looking for it so much, but enjoying it and following a construction process from date one, Agostina managed to return to the top category of the Metropolitano with her club and stated some of the nuances that led to the long-awaited return.: “Bank is doing very well, the group is in a good moment, We are very happy with what we achieved this year, the truth is that I am satisfied with the team that was formedwith the maturity that we had throughout the games, which is something that I always criticized,” commented the midfielder.

The Metropolitan champions – for the last time – in 2018 once again had various players in the team after that time, the incorporation of Ariana Arias, Pilar Pisthon to Junior, and Lourdes Pisthon to Las Leonas, is a recognition of the work they are doing Nation and this is what Alonso indicated: “It’s a lot. For the club it is great, because it adds a lot to us in the squad. But it also speaks of training work for minors.“Not from this year, but from many, which was very good for us to have three girls in the team.”

During the construction of their own court in Olivares, and a little before too, in Nación it happened that many girls came to the club and left soon in search of new options, but the current situation is different and August She took the time to reflect: “About the girls who come and stay today, I think it speaks very well of the group.”about the people at Banco Nación, about how we make them feel when they come. Today we have to offer a club with a court, a barbecue area and changing rooms. Which is no small thing because we never had it, so we have to value the place where we are.. Our property, which we take a lot of care of, because it is new and we love it. So happy with the present. Anxious for the future”.

Alonso is part of the editorial staff of the last glorious pages of Las Leonas and assumed that great responsibility since he felt the Argentine shirt on his skin.but Agostina pondered an answer to suggest how she would like them to remember her when her life takes another path: “I would love for her to be like the one who never gave up a ball for lost.she ran everything until the end, she was a companion, supportive, and who always prioritized making the team shine before a single person. I think that’s how I live hockey and that’s how I would like to be remembered.“, concluded the double Olympic medalist.
