Yankees get:
3B Ryan McMahon

Rockies get:
PZ Griffin Herring
PD Josh Grosz

Yankees qualification: B

For Yankees fans who wanted Eugenio Suárez to fill the hole in the third base, this seems like a great disappointment considering that McMahon bats .217/.314/.403 with 16 homers (compared to the 36 of Suárez) and occupies the second place in strikeouts in the majors, playing half of his games in the Cours Field. Out of Colorado, beat alone .189 with five homers. However, consider the positive aspects:

  • It has a contract until 2027, so it is also a solution in the third base for the next two years (it will earn $ 16 million for each of the next two seasons).

  • He is an excellent defender, being in the 91th percentile in Outs above the average according to Statcast.

  • It is located in the 86 percentile in ball base rate.

  • It is located in the 98 percentile in average exit speed and in the 87th percentile in strong blow rate.

  • He could receive the impulse to “leave Coors Field”, where his statistics as a visitor will adjust to play their games at home in a more normal environment.

The latter is important. The Yankees have experience in this: DJ Lemahieu hit .327 and .364 in their first two seasons with the Yankees after leaving the rockies. Yes, the strikeouts are the great concern with McMahon, and although it is not having their best season, at least, it improves the defense and gives the Yankees a little more power. I suspect that McMahon will not beat .189 with the Yankees and could be a good incorporation.

Rockies rating: C

Although McMahon’s name had been in the rumors, it is still a small surprise that the rockies have exchanged. In the first place, they rarely make exchanges of any kind, especially the significant ones, and especially they change local players like McMahon. So, at least, well for them for doing something that probably makes sense.

Did they receive a lot in return? Herring was selected in the sixth draft round last year from LSU, where he launched as reliever. The Yankees made him a starter, and Herring has devastated two class A levels with an effectiveness of 1.71 and 10.3 strikeouts per nine tickets. Mainly a straight pitcher and Sweeper in LSU, his speed change has proven to be a great weapon, since right -handed batters only beat him .159.

That a university launcher of a high -profile program like LSU dominates the minor leagues does not usually say much, except that in this case the lack of Herring experience and his successful transition to a greater workload are a great point in favor. Herring did not enter the list of the 10 best Yankees prospects of Kiley McDaniel in his July update, but he did enter the MLB.com list in the number 8.

Grosz has passed the entire 2025 season in Class A High, registering an effectiveness of 4.14 with 94 strikeouts in 85 tickets and keeping the batters in an average .211. It has a high -turn line that is around 90 miles per hour, but its secondary repertoire needs to improve, and its control is slightly below the average (35 bases per ball).

The biggest problem is that these are two pitchers who have not had a performance greater than class A and do not necessarily have an elite repertoire. The statistics look good, but the next step to double-a will be a great test, to see how Herring’s line works against better competition and if Grosz can improve its control.– David Schoenfield

Mets get:
PZ Gregory Soto

Orioles get:
PD Wellington Aracena, PD Cameron Foster

Mets qualification: C+

Until the end of May, the Bullpen of the Mets occupied second place in the major leagues with an effectiveness of 2.78. However, since June 1, Mets occupy the 27th position with an effectiveness of 5.02, so Soto is a logical addition, and it will probably not be the last reliever acquired by the Mets. Part of the problem is that the METS openers have not launched far in the matches and the manager Carlos Mendoza has exhausted their best relieved, except for the Edwin Díaz closing.

The Mets have also been without a reliable left -handed, since Aj Munter, signed in the low season, will not be able to play for the rest of the campaign. They have just activated Brooks Raley, but Soto gives them another left-handed option, without a doubt thinking about possible playoffs against the Phillies (Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber), the Dodgers (Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman) or the Cubs (Kyle Tucker, Michael Busch, Pete Crow-Armstrong). They will need more than a left -handed reliever.

Is Soto a good option? He still has first talent, with a 97 mph line and a devastating slider, and left -handed batters beat alone .138 in 2025 (although two of the eight hits have been home runs). As always, however, launching Strikes is usually a problem (4.5 bases per ball per nine innings) and has a big squad difference (right -handed batters have an OBP of .371 against them). Soto is a good left -handed option against left -hander, but his control means that he is not always the most reliable and the orioles were not using it in many high -risk situations lately.

Orioles qualification: B-

Let the Exodus begin. With up to 11 possible more free agents, Orioles will be busy next week. Many of these changes will look like this: a pair of second category prospects. Aracena (No. 19 on the list of MLB.com METS, No. 28 in Baseball America) is a right -year -old right pitcher and 6’3 “(1.90 meters) with an effectiveness of 2.38 in low class, including 84 strikeouts in 64 tickets, with a line of more than 90 MHP that has exceeded 101. Those are the good news. It has granted 35 bases by balls.

Foster is a 26 -year -old reliever who devastated by repeating the level this season (1.01 of effectiveness), although he had difficulties in his first two outings after a recent promotion to triple to (seven races in 3.2 entries). Considering all the changes that the orioles will make, it would not be surprising to see it appear in the Bullpen of the Major Leagues at some point in this season. – David Schoenfield

Mariners get:
1b Josh Naylor

Diamondbacks get:
PZ Brandyn García
PD Ashton Izzi

Mariners qualification: B+

This is the first significant change for the last week before the deadline, and is interesting in part because it means that the diamondbacks will negotiate. Naylor could be the first of a group that could include Eugenio Suárez, Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen, which could enrich the deadline with some interesting names.

While the third base was the biggest offensive need for sailors, Naylor gives them a full batter that has been one of the best contact batters in the biggest this season, hitting .292/.360/.447 with 11 homers and the 13th lowest strikeout rate among qualified batters. Naylor has caused most of his damage against right -handed pitchers, hitting .310/.390/.493 with nine of his 11 home runs. This represents an improvement with respect to the current headline, Luke Raley, who has hit .248/.370/.397 against right-handed ones, but has only bathed 20-1 against left-handed, with the hitter of little power Donovan Solano as a teammate.

Naylor can play daily and be placed in the middle of the alignment, which is among the 10 worst of the major leagues in terms of strikeouts, so your contact capacity will be a good incorporation. In addition, it improves the Seattle bank, since Raley can now cover the right garden (although Dominic Canzone has been hitting well) or the designated hitter post, with Jorge Polanco perhaps having some time in the second base instead of Cole Young. The third rookie base Ben Williamson is an excellent defender, but only has a homer in 256 spin to bat. While Polanco has a lot of experience in third base in his career, he has not started there since April 4, since a shoulder injury has limited his releases.

In other words: sailors could still look for an improvement in the third base. Diamondbacks could wait until July 31 to redeem Suarez, hoping that one of the various teams that need an antealist to give in with a good prospects. The Mariners did not give up any of their 10 best prospects, so it is to assume that the president of Seattle Baseball Operations, Jerry Dipoto, and the general manager of Arizona, Mike Hazen, have not finished exchange messages.

Diamondbacks qualification: B

While García and Izzi did not appear on the list of the 10 best mariners prospects according to Kiley McDaniel, that does not necessarily affect its potential: the Top 10 of Seattle is full of prospects that are among the 100 best. Garcia held number 13 on the MLB.com and Izzi team list number 16.

Selected in the eleventh Round of the Texas A&M Draft in 2023, Garcia was a surprising success as a starter in 2024, but the Mariners transferred him to the Bullpen this season, and just debuted in the MLB after registering an effectiveness of 3.51 in double-a and triple-a with 42 strikeouts in 33⅔ entries. He launches a symbar of more than 90 mph, along with a Sweeper and a Cutter, and kept the left -handed with an average bat of .235 and a slugging of .255. You can probably go directly to Arizona’s bullpen right now, with the idea that diamondbacks try it as a starter in 2026. It is a good surprise prospect in an exchange like this, with at least a minimum as a reliever and perhaps some potential as a starter of the rear of the rotation.

Izzi is a 21 -year -old right -handed with a 90 mph line, selected in the fourth round of the draft when leaving high school in 2022. However, it has had difficulties in class at High Everett, with an effectiveness of 5.51 in 12 openings. His combination of line and Sweeper could eventually function as a reliever, although right -handed batters have hit him as strong as left -handed. It is a development prospect.

Nothing too striking, but there was not going to be a large market for Naylor, and competed with players like Ryan O’Hearn and Marcell Ozuna in the first -designated base/batter category, so Arizona probably thought he should attack first with Naylor, giving the team more time to negotiate agreements with their other free free agents.
