Martín Elli, a man of experience within the CT of Las Leonas

SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO (Special Envoy) – Generating a positive environment is key to the success of a field hockey team. Martin Ellia connoisseur with vast experience in concentrations and travel, He became the first male team leader to accompany Las Leonas. With records that have him with just over 10 years in various roles within the Argentine Hockey Confederation (CAH), his place in the coaching staff commanded by Fernando Ferrara is essential. “For me it is a pride to be with the girls”he told AM850 Hockey.
The closing of 2024 for Las Leonas was a dream. They managed to end the four-year winless drought against the Netherlands. The emotions were on the surface and the relief of both the players and the members of the staff technical was total. On a day-to-day basis, the energy that voices of experience can convey are key to making the game on the field as fluid as possible. “I want to be able to give them peace of mind and let them do what they really know and what brought them here, which is playing hockey.”Elli explained. “My goal is for them to have everything within reach so they can just put their mind to it. And I hope it helps Argentina achieve that precious gold medal that we and the girls have been looking for so much for years.”he added.
Fernando Ferrara showed that his pulse does not tremble when it comes to trying new faces, new ideas or new approaches. Having your team close is essential to getting that across to those you direct. “He asked me to be close to the girls. Anyway, there is something that I talked about with the group in general when I started and that is that if there is something that I would not forgive myself for, it is being chargey with them. I try to keep them free, to live day to day. We share many hours, so I want to be there for whatever they need me to do, help and continue the process of what is being done.”Martín commented.
With a past as team leader in Los Leones with Mariano Ronconi at the helm, he was also part of Santiago Capurro’s coaching staff in Las Leonas as a physical trainer and was a member of the youth teams of both branches. “I was lucky to be with the majority of the team in previous years, I have known them since they were very young and they have known me. I think it is a nice opportunity to face this new process”he concluded.
