Markel Beloki, son of Joseba Beloki, signs for Netcompany Ineos
The young cyclist from Alava Markel Beloki, until this season in the EF Education-Easy Post has signed for him Netcompany Ienos for the season 2027, with the aim of, over time, developing as a stage tour cyclist, the British team has announced.
Beloki (Vitoria, 2005) is the son of former cyclist and Tour podium finisher Joseba Beloki. He turned professional very early, at the age of 18, in 2024. After a period of adaptation and a 2025 season affected by mononucleosis, this year he stood out and won the Tour de l’Ain, his first victory of a general classification in a round by stages, in addition to concluding in the 35th place in the Giro and 13th in the Basque Itzulia.
Now he makes the jump to one of the great squads of the platoon, the Netcompany Ineos. In the statement announcing his signing, the British firm commented: “This young and promising Spanish cyclist brings to the team his ability in the mountains, his quality in time trials and growing experience in the WorldTour, being part of an exciting group of young talents.
Markel Beloki has stated that joining Netcompany Ineos constitutes a step “very exciting” for him. “I have learned a lot in my first seasons as a professional and those experiences have increased my ambition for what I want to achieve. I still have a lot of room for improvement and I am looking forward to working with the riders and team staff to take that next step,” he stated.
“My goal is to develop as a stage tour cyclist and, over time, strive for good results in the grand tours. I know that it takes patience and constant work, so it motivates me enormously to be able to learn from experienced colleagues, contribute to their successes and make the most of my own opportunities,” he added.
Geraint Thomas, Ineos competition director, has declared that Beloki is “a great talent” whom they have been following for a few years and who “has enormous potential”, which is why they are “very excited to work with him and help him take the next steps in his development”.
