Long live love: another tennis couple who gets engaged
ATP world No. 9, Australian Alex de Minaur, and WTA No. 24, Katie Boulter, have announced their engagement.
The couple, who met on the tennis circuit, have been together for almost five years.
Announcing the news on social networks, With a photo of the ring, British number one Boulter wrote: “We’ve been keeping a little secret.”
Coincidentally, Great Britain will face Australia in the United Cup in Sydney on January 1, with Boulter, 28, and De Minaur, 25, named in their respective teams.
With two singles matches and a mixed doubles tie in each match, Boulter and De Minaur could face each other in doubles.
“I wouldn’t say I’m excited about the idea of facing him again,” Boulter said before the news of the engagement. “He’s a Top 10 player and he knows how to play tennis, so there’s a positive side. Then there’s the personal aspect, which is difficult.”
Playing together, Boulter and De Minaur reached the second round of mixed doubles at Wimbledon.
