McLaren’s English accelerated before classification and led in the streets of Baku, 17th F1 date. Max Verstappen was close.

After closing on Friday chewing along with that blow to the wall that broke the left rear suspension of its McLaren, Lando Norris smiled at the Azerbaijan GP by dominating the third training. The English marked 1M41S223 to keep the best, as it had already done in the first essay of this 17th date of F1.

Norris, second in the World Cup at 31 points from his partner Oscar Piestri, surrounded by 222 thousandths to Max Verstappen, who this Saturday appeared as a serious threat to fight for pole position in the urban layout of Baku. After being just sixth on Friday, on the second day of activity, the Red Bull tetrampone sent a notice just before the classification.

Piastri, meanwhile, was third, 254 thousandths of his teammate. The closeness with the tip is the photo of a much more complex film for the Australian, who was not comfortable throughout the weekend. In fact, in the third session he was very close to hitting the wall, he had to abort a couple of turns with a soft tire for small passes long and near the end of the Stint with soft could get into the conversation.

Lewis Hamilton, the fastest on Friday, was fourth, 276 thousandths. Ferrari’s English showed candidate credentials again to fight for big things in this event, unlike his partner Charles Leclerc, who touched the wall and did not have a good time (it was tenth). The tip quartet was locked in 276 thousandths. From there there was a big jump, because Kimi Antonelli was fifth with the Mercedes, but 653 from Norris.
