Indios de Mayagüez cherishes title and ticket to the Caribbean Series in LBPRC

Martín Maldonado and Danny Ortiz hit a home run in the victory that put Indios one win away from the title and the LBPRC ticket for the Mexicali 2025 Caribbean Series

The Senators tried to set the tone first. In the bottom of the first inning, San Juan scored after Indians starter Ronnie Williams walked two with one out and gave up an RBI hit to Brantley Bell to center field.
After escaping a two-on-base threat in the fourth inning, Senators starter Brady Tedesco received a home run from Martín “Machete” Maldonado – his second in the Final – through the left field of Hiram Bithorn Stadium for the 1 -1 in the fifth episode.
Ralph Garza Jr. came on in relief in the sixth inning, and after having trouble having two on base, in the seventh he got the first two outs without breaking a sweat, but Danny Ortiz knocked the ball out of the park in the right field to put him ahead to Indians 2-1.
In the eighth, the Indians hit three consecutive hits, but Indians reliever Sidney Duprey got bigger. The left-hander dominated David MacKinnon with a fly ball, Bryan Torres with a strikeout and Isán Díaz with a grounder through the infield to extinguish the threat.
The Indians counted on the pitch work of right-handed relievers Carlos Francisco and Justin Yeager in the last two innings.
Left-hander Jake McSteen took the win after not allowing a run and allowing two hits in his 1 1/3 innings of relief work. On the other hand, Garza Jr. suffered the setback by allowing one run in two innings. Yeager, who has been involved in each of the Indians’ series victories, earned his third save.
