Antonelli’s new record in F1
Until this Sunday, March 29, 2026, the youngest Formula 1 leader in history was neither more nor less than Lewis Hamiltontoday seven-time world champion.
The British pilot had achieved that mark with 22 years and 126 daysafter being second in the 2007 Spanish Grand Prix, only in his fourth race in the category.
Hamilton, who finished on the podium in his first nine races in F1, was second that season, one point behind Kimi Räikkönen.
Until then, that record belonged to Bruce McLarenwho was a month older than Hamilton when he achieved it after the 1960 Argentine Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Räikkönen, Robert Kubica, Fernando Alonso, Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc complete the top 10 of that statistic, which has Michael Schumacher in twelfth position.
The surprising thing about Antonelli is that he not only surpassed Hamilton, but he did it with more than two and a half years of margin.
