Gimnasia La Plata achieved promotion, led by Fernández Kavanagh

The sport takes many turns and leaves you in places that perhaps you did not plan.but destiny wanted it that way. As in life, several times we completed a journey where we had never thoughtand vice versa. The case of Fernández Kavanagh is similar. When he felt that he had nothing more to give to hockey, a door appeared that was always open inside him and, before everything was over, he agreed to pass by to launch into another dream.

“It was unique, the truth is that we worked on it all year and it was everyone’s wish.. We wanted the best for the lower teams, the sixth, the fifth were champions and the Intermediate was there. So we needed him for the club, to move up the ranks, to improve the level and for Gimnasia hockey to continue growing“, the captain began narrating.

Gimnasia La Plata had the challenge of playing the D/E Repechage against Belgrano Athletic B and that involved traveling to Pinazo to define the second leg: “The water court has its complications, we played in sand but we could do it, the reality is that we were very confidentWe work a lot, we are all very committed in the team, the coaching staff, the coordinator was also always there for us to achieve the best possible outcome. So, We came knowing that we were going to give everything and try until the end, and that we had a lot of possibilities because we studied the rival a lot”.

Once the objective of promotion was achieved, Lara referred to the meaning of achieving that achievement: Personally it is my dream, I have been a Gimnasia fan since I was five, I played all my life at Universitario La Plata and this year I came to Lobo“I’m already a big player, I’m 32 years old, so it catches me at the end of my career and the truth is that this is glory.”

But, after 18 years playing for La U, what happened to put on the shirt that you appreciate most?Last year I stopped playing and I wanted to see if I wanted to run again, to be on a field, in a committed team and when I went to Bosquecito for the first time I came in and said: ‘I’m at home‘, and it was happening alone. The team was spectacular, they made me feel good from the beginning, very comfortable, the truth is that I wanted this, I dreamed of it my whole life, and this year I decided that I was going to give myself the pleasure, I thought I was already retiring and here I am.

Beyond having established herself with the promotion to D, Fernández Kavanagh confessed what her aspirations were starting in 2024: “Since the year started, we wanted to be among the first three, because the first one was directly promoted and the other two were playing in the Playoffs.so it was from the first moment that we said we want this and we were able to fulfill it, with three dates left we had already entered and had a chance to be promoted directly, it was a little complicated for us in the end, but we were able to make it happen later.”

Regarding the future, one of the Lobo captains did not skimp on details to glimpse her future: “I’m staying. I want to continue contributing to the club, and to be able to be there for the youth teams, for the team, for whatever they need, the truth is that we built a great group, we were able to consolidate a lot, so we are going to take advantage of it and to continue working together to make Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata hockey even bigger”Lara sealed.
