Alpine’s director spoke about the future of the Argentine pilot during the first day of activity of the GP of Emilia-Romagna.

Flavio Briatore arrived at the GP of Emilia-Romagna, seventh Formula 1 date, as brand new director of the Alpine team. The position knows him well, he exercised it for years in Benetton and Renault. His return to the category was given as Executive Advisor of Luca de Meo, CEO of the Rombo, and that position held to the Miami GP. The surprise and untimely resignation of Oliver Oakes generated a hole that was covered with the Italian. However, Briatore, in the eyes of the FIA, does not hold the position because it is not a direct employee of the team or has the license. Therefore, Dave Greenwood was chosen to respond as director, but he who handles everything is Flavio.

From his position as head of the team, he was consulted in Icola for the situation of Franco Colapinto. The statement issued by Alpine when it was announced that it would replace Jack Doohan scored that it would be for the next five races. However, Briatore fell importance to this item. “Franco will make the races I have to do. I read that he will have five races, but no, there is no limit to their careers”said Piedmontés in statements to Sky.

Then, he clearly explained what are the objectives that marked the Argentine pilot: “You have to go fast, not to collide and add points. I only asked for these three things, I do not ask you ten. If he does the right thing, he will conduct forever”added Briatore.

The Italian also dedicated a phrase for Doohan, the pilot who was degraded to reserve and was replaced by Colapinto: “I have to say that I also expected more from Jack Doohan, maybe he needs a break.”
