F1: Mexican GP driver ranking

F1: Driver rankings after the Singapore GP

F1 leaves Mexico with a new championship leader, after an exciting race to the end

He Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome received the 20th date of the season F1which is in its closing cycle and which promises a ‘head to head’ between the pilots of McLaren Yes, they are in the ranking. But let’s underline how well he did in the AHR Oliver Bearman with the haas.

To put together this driver classifier, we took everything done over the weekend, prioritizing the qualifying sessions and the race. We also consider the car each driver competes with, as well as the competitor’s years of experience.

1. Lando Norris

Perfect race for Lando Norris and McLaren. The Briton and the team achieved the perfect set-up for the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez and Lano made it count both in qualifying and in the race. No one could keep up with him.

2. Max Verstappen

Furious pursuit of ‘Mad Max’ in the second stint of the race, which was stopped on the last lap with a controversial Virtual Safety Car. We will not know if Verstappen would have passed Leclerc for 2nd position, but in our ranking, Max won.

3. Oliver Bearman

Ollie achieved his best result in Formula 1 in Mexico. A race of opportunism – when he managed to pass Verstappen and Russel when they were fighting each other -, and then of endurance. In the end, it was also driven by the VSC that stopped Oscar Piastri in extremes.

4. Charles Leclerc

The Monegasque driver managed to take the Ferrari to the podium in the AHR. The Italian team still does not win in 2025, but Leclerc continues to deliver results sometimes above the car’s capabilities, and in the second stint in Mexico, in a suffering manner yes, but he endured the furious attack of ‘Mad Max’ with very worn tires.

5. Gabriel Bortoleto

It went somewhat unnoticed due to what was happening between Leclerc and Verstappen, and Bearman and Piastri, but Bortoleto took a point coming from 16th position with another error-free delivery. If I were asked for a single word to describe the Brazilian rookie, I would choose efficient. And now he is going to Sao Paulo, where people will give themselves madly.

6. Kimi Antonelli

A great weekend for Kimi Antonelli, another young man who made no mistakes, or at least not serious mistakes. From practice 1 until the race you could see this Italian boy with the consistency to go for the points and who knows, maybe even the podium. But then technological reality prevailed and the Mercedes was unable to keep up with the podium.

7. Oscar Piastri

If Max’s comeback was furious, Piastri’s was desperate. The Australian lost the lead in the drivers’ world championship, now he is one point behind Norris. But the race was good, especially the second stint, where he once again showed his best driving. A couple more laps and he would have been fourth and still the leader.

8. George Russell

Russell was another who had a desperate run, but he: desperately defensive. We had already said with Kimi that the Mercedes was not up to par with the MCL, Ferrari and Max, and Russell was a victim of that circumstance. Beyond that, the Briton leaves another race of solid points for the team in the fight for second place in the constructors.

9. Lewis Hamilton

On Saturday, Lewis at the drivers’ conference looked excited about the possibility of going for his first podium with Ferrari. That illusion quickly transformed into an odyssey whose only real destination was to reduce the damage after a harsh 10-second penalty and at a race pace, which was also not up for the podium – even without that penalty it did not seem that Hamilton could resist Veratappen. On Sunday, Sir Lewis’ career was limited to scoring as many points as possible for the fight in the world championship against Mercedes.

10. Esteban Ocon

And we close this top 10 with the other Haas driver. The Frenchman was discreet in the Mexican competition, but he managed to make up positions and complete the double race in points for Haas.
