F1: Lando Norris and his mistake of errors in Baréin

Leaving Baréin as leader of the 76th season of Formula 1 is the only positive thing that took Norris from its very loose weekend. The English was a bunch of errors, which, in reality, linked to those already committed in China and Japan. In Shanghai he failed in the classification and in the Sprint race. In Sukuka he failed to round a complete turn in Q3 and was condemned to be an escort of Max Verstappen. And in Baréin they all made them. The list starts.

He failed in the classification and a lot. So much that it was barely sixth with the same car with which his teammate achieved the poland. In the race everything got worse. Of entry, His MCL39 parked badly in the starting drawer! There is a quite large yellow line painted in each starting place. That brand strip of the place where the front wheels must be located and Norris passed and for a lot. Result: penalty of five seconds, which arrived after jumping from sixth to third in the pique, the only good thing he did throughout the weekend.

After the entry of the security car, Norris was behind Lewis Hamilton. In his runaway attack, he overcame it with the four wheels outside the track. They immediately forced him to return the place. There were more, because in his attack on Charles Leclerc and, despite having a better car with his McLaren, he was wrong again when blocking in the first curve and ending outside. That generated him to have to take more time to overcome Monegasco and did not reach his race to move on to George Russell, finally second with the Mercedes.

With a long face, Norris faced the microphones and said: “I didn’t think I was advancing in the exit drawer. Then I made some mistake. I was out of position. I am disappointed for not having achieved the double for McLaren at home. It’s hard, but there are positive things. It has been a good career, I don’t complain. It was fun, with good overtaking, everyone was strong.”

Norris is facing the huge challenge of rennet cutting with his mistakes. It doesn’t matter what happens in another box, as happened in 2024, when Max Verstappen, with a lower car in the second part of the year, was able to administer the difference achieved in the first ten appointments of the year, in part, thanks to Lando’s errors. The San Pablo GP was the most obvious, but not the only one. The little mistakes are undermining their head and confidence. The problem is that it now has the battle under the same roof and that can be harder. He is on time, because Baréin took something: he is still leader of the World Cup, because even the podium was liked.
