Colombia: Néstor Lorenzo revealed why he did not call up Sebastián Villa
Coach Néstor Lorenzo explained on RCN the reason why Sebastian Villa was left out of the call Colombia National Team to the FIFA date of March.
Hours before the list of those called up for the friendlies against France and Croatia in the United States was made official, there were journalistic versions that placed the Antioquia forward in that group. However, his name was discarded.
The DT indicated that it was in the plans, but after several analyzes it was determined not to call him.
“Villa was blocked for the first time in my entire process. There are more than 50 or 60 players in the block so that the club does not have the right to deny him. He did not have a visa and they made him apply for a visa because he could not eventually be called up, but later the analysis of the competition he has was done and it was decided not to call him up.”he stated.
Villa’s last time in Colombia was in 2019 with two games against Korea and Japan at the beginning of Carlos Queiroz’s cycle. He is one of the figures of Independiente Rivadavia in Argentine soccer.
“He is a player who was once again in the National Team spectrum. We understand that all of his legal aspects have been resolved and I am not the one to judge him, I will not get involved there,” added the DT.
Colombia will open the FIFA date against Croatia in Orlando and will end against France in Maryland.
