Checo Pérez after leaving Red Bull: "It has been an unforgettable experience"

Checo thanked the team and Max Verstappen for the opportunity to be a team in F1

The Mexican pilot Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez made his departure official Red Bull Racing. The man from Guadalajara said goodbye to the team this Wednesday on his social networks.

As AM850 announced in days gone by, Checo will not continue with Red Bull for the next season of the Formula 1. Perez thanked the organization for all the opportunities they gave him and said he was proud of the history he managed to build with the team and the fans.

“I am incredibly grateful for the last four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an impressive team. Racing for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I will always treasure the achievements we achieved together. We’ve broken records, reached notable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way. “A big thank you to everyone on the team, from management, engineers and mechanics, to catering, hospitality, cooking, marketing and communications, as well as everyone at Milton Keynes, I wish them the best for the future,” he said.

Regarding his former partner Max VerstappenSergio stated that it was an incredible experience being a teammate of the Dutchman and also took the opportunity to thank the support he received from the Mexican fans during his time in Red Bull.

“It has been an honor to ride alongside Max as a teammate for all these years and share in our success. A special thank you to the fans around the world, and especially to the Mexican fans for their unwavering support every day. We will see you soon. And remember… Never give up,” he said.

Sources have told AM850 that Red Bull already decided that Liam Lawson will be the replacement of Sergio Perez. The New Zealander will step up with just 11 races under his belt across two spells in the RB junior team in 2023 and 2024.

Formula 2 runner-up Isack Hadjar would then take Lawson’s place alongside Yuki Tsunoda, who is set for a fifth consecutive season in the company’s junior team.

Pérez’s future beyond this decision is unclear.

For his part, Team Director and CEO of Oracle Red Bull RacingChristian Horner, highlighted Checo’s legacy in the team and pointed out that the Mexican was key to the successes they achieved in recent seasons.
