Belén Succi and her return to CASI
Belén Succi is synonymous with dedication and passion. For many years he represented Argentina with Las Leonas, and after four years of his retirement, he once again stood between the three sticks, this time defending the shirt of the club of his entire life, CASI. Exclusively with AM850.com, she spoke about her return as a goalkeeper for Primera A, which is playing in the Metropolitan C Tournament.
Despite still not being physically ready – something that will happen as the dates and coaches pass -, he decided to help the San Isidro club, which suffered relegation to C in 2025 and did not have a goalkeeper. “A lot of emotions today, I think everything was at stake for me, my body and spending four years doing absolutely nothing”commented the ex-Leona. CASI hosted Monte Grande on the first date of the C1 women’s competition, and the result ended in a 1-1 draw.
Belén said that she is not physically well, and that the first game was difficult for her. After four years without doing physical activity, returning to the competitive level can be very hard, but she is focused and has a well-defined opinion. Despite the sometimes mental difficulty as well – it is easy to become demotivated by not being able to perform at 100% – It contributes a lot in terms of experience. But that is not new, but it is a matter of looking back and looking at everything she won with Las Leonas and the number of games and rivals she faced to realize that having her in goal is always a good decision.
“I think I bring experience and mental strength, the leadership capacity from below”Succi added. It is a very young team with many players, and surely many did not even in their wildest dreams believe that they would be able to share the court with Belén Succi. His dedication to the club is an example not only for the members of Club Atlético San Isidro, but for all of Argentine hockey.
