Barça already has a roadmap: express preseason and no room for tests

The new Barça The basketball team already knows the roadmap to start building a project with many new faces in a course specially designed for the section, which will celebrate its centenary. It will be a short and atypical preseason, conditioned by an international window that will force the coach Alexander Sekulic to be absent to direct Slovenia.

Preparation will begin on Friday, August 21, with medical check-ups, and the first training sessions are scheduled for Monday, August 24, on a date especially designated for the section: that same day will mark the 100th anniversary of Barça basketball.

In this first week, both Sekulic as several players will be concentrated with their national teams to play qualifying matches for the 2027 World Cup and the pre-qualifiers for the Eurobasket 2029. The Slovenian’s assistants will lead the sessions with the few players who are available. In this scenario, Barça will have one of the key moments of its preparation in Encamp. The team repeats the same destination as last year and will travel to the Andorran town on Wednesday, September 2, remaining there until Sunday, September 6. It will be a stay designed to accumulate hours of physical and tactical preparation, but also so that a practically new dressing room begins to generate bonds on and off the court. The concentration will have a competitive closure with a match against MoraBanc Andorra on the 6th. The match, of a charity nature, will be the only friendly before the start of the official season.

Without respite

And the calendar does not allow for too many tests. The official premiere will come on Thursday, September 10, against MoraBanc Andorra itself, in the group stage of the Catalan League. The next day, they will face Kids&Us Manresa and only if they finish first in the group will they play the final on Sunday the 13th.

Next will come the turn of the Endesa Super Cupwhich this year will be played in Badalona. Valencia Basket will be Barça’s rival in the semifinals on Saturday the 19th. If they overcome this first obstacle, the final is scheduled for the next day against Asisa Joventut or Kosner Baskonia.

Just four days after the Super Cup final, Barça will open its way in the Euroleaguewhich this year starts before the domestic competition. Anadolu Efes will visit the Palau on September 24 and two days later, on September 26, the premiere at the ACBalso at home, against Leyma Coruña. A demanding calendar for a renewed Barça that will have to build its identity on the fly and that will face the first official titles in the process of adaptation.
