Alpinum TotalEnergies anticipates stage 3 of the Tour de France by two days

The Alpinum TotalEnergies is warming up when there is just one month left for the cycling race, with departure and arrival in Alp (Girona) on July 4.

It will be the perfect appetizer for the Tour de France, which has chosen a very similar route for its third stage (Granollers-Les Angles, July 6) to the usual route of the Alpinum TotalEnergies, which demonstrates the attractiveness of the area for cyclists. Specifically, the Grande Boucle ascends Collada de Toses and the Col du Calvaire, in addition to passing through Alp, tracing a good part of the route that more than a thousand cyclists will have completed two days before in the Alpinum.

Roberto Heras and Álex Roca

Roberto Heras, one of the best Spanish cyclists of all time, repeats as ambassador and will be one of the main attractions at the Alpinum TotalEnergies. The only one who has won the Vuelta Ciclista a España four times (2000, 2003, 2004, 2005), along with the Slovenian Primoz Roglic, is also a versatile cyclist, since he also won the Titan Desert four times, in mountain biking, over the Moroccan desert.

“I repeat because I love this cycling tour. I live in Barcelona and I like to escape to these roads. They are fantastic and the proof of this is that the Tour has chosen them for its route.” Along with Heras, the participation of Álex Roca, an admired and inspiring athlete who has completed large-scale challenges despite his cerebral palsy with 76% physical disability, stands out in this 2026 edition.

Territory of Grand Tours

For cyclists who want to stay to watch the Tour (Monday, July 6), the Alpinum organization will set up a meeting point at the top of the Collada de Toses to see Pogacar, Vingegaard and company pass by on the front line.

Curiously, stage 3 of the Vuelta a España 2026 (next August 24) also cycles through Alpinum territory, as it ends in Font Romeu, where the three distances of the cycling race pass.

Cyclists of the stature of Miguel and Pruden Induráin, Luis León Sánchez and Sylvain Chavanel, in addition to the aforementioned Roberto Heras, have pedaled in previous editions of the Alpinum TotalEnergies, which stands out for being the cycling event with the most impressive panoramic views over the Cerdanya valley, both the Catalan and the French ones. And it also runs through part of the Gallic region of Capcir.

As usual, participants will be able to choose between three distances (89, 145 km and 185 kilometers). The longest will go into the heart of the Pyrenees to overcome four passes (Col du Calvaire, Col de la Llose, Col de la Creu and Collada de Toses).

The Alpinum TotalEnergies, which had already existed since 2016 under the name of Alp Cerdanya Cycle Tour, is once again part of the TotalEnergies Challenge cycle tourism circuit ((challenge.totalenergies.es)challenge.totalenergies.es) along with three other prestigious events: La Perico (June 28), La Induráin (July 25) and Gran Fondo Alberto Contador (September 19).
