José Soriano heads the group of Dominican pitchers who stood out at the start of the Major League season


Dominicans dominate the first ranking ‘Al Rojas Vivo’ of the most outstanding Latin American pitchers of the Major League season, an exercise that celebrates 21 years in AM850 Digital.

As has been a tradition, ‘Al Rojas Vivo’ is updated every Tuesday, taking into account the statistics for the entire year.

Dominican right-hander José Soriano has been the most outstanding Latin pitcher in the first two weeks of the season. In his first three starts, Soriano is 3-0, with a 0.45 ERA (1 earned run) with 21 strikeouts and six walks in 20 innings. The opposition is hitting .109 against him.

Sánchez (1-0, 0.79) had 17 strikeouts and four walks in 11.1 innings, against the Texas Rangers and the Washington Nationals. Last season, Sánchez finished second in the NL Cy Young race.

In his first two appearances with the Tigers, Dominican left-hander Framber Valdez has looked like the $115 million pitcher they signed in free agency. Valdez (1-0, 0.75) allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out 10 in 12 innings, against the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals.

After a super performance against the United States in the final of the World Baseball ClassicVenezuelan left-hander Eduardo Rodríguez has followed the same route at the start of the season, throwing 12 shutout innings in his first two outings for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Rodríguez has no decision, with eight strikeouts and three walks.

The Dominican pair dominated in their first two appearances. Cabrera, of the Chicago Cubs, is 1-0, 0.00 in 11.2 innings, while Vázquez, of the Padres, is 1-0, 0.75 in 12 innings.
