A Gironès club revolutionizes grassroots basketball with its own technological platform

The Basketball Club Sant Gregoria training entity in the Gironeshas launched a digital sports management platform developed entirely by the club itself. This initiative marks a rare milestone in grassroots basketball, equating its technological capabilities to those of professional clubs. After a year of development and testing, the tool is fully operational for the 2026-27 season.

The platform allows detailed monitoring of matches in real time, recording baskets, fouls, substitutions and timeouts directly from the court. In addition, it creates a complete sports history for each player, documenting their evolution, statistics and key moments from their entry to their departure from the club. This record is considered the true heritage of each athlete in their formative stage.

The project has been led by the Sports Tech Area and Sports Innovation of the CB Sant Gregoriwith Jordi Warrior at the forefront of development. The custom-built solution is already being used by 25 teams, more than 250 players and more than 40 coaches. Its internal creation underlines the club’s commitment to innovation applied to the day-to-day life of a grassroots entity.

The relevance of this technology lies in its ability to address two historical challenges of training basketball: preserving the sporting legacy of each player throughout their career and providing coaches with advanced tools to improve their work. The club seeks to demonstrate that innovation and technology are not exclusive to the elite, but can and should be at the service of sports training.

The platform incorporates the possibilities of current technology and artificial intelligence to automate tasks, organize data and facilitate its interpretation. On a daily basis, the system automatically integrates the official information published by the Catalan Federation Basketball (FCBQ), including calendars, results and possible changes to schedules or tracks, ensuring that data is always updated without manual intervention.

Jordi WarriorChief Sports Tech & Innovation Officer of the CB Sant Gregori and responsible for the development, highlighted the vision of the project: “In a training club, the most valuable thing is the path of each player. We wanted a technology that would preserve this history – the sporting legacy of each boy and girl – and that, at the same time, help our coaches to train and get the most out of what they do. It is our way of showing that innovation also fits into grassroots basketball.”

The C.B. Sant Gregori thus establishing a new standard in training sports management.
