Fernando Alonso: “I give everything in every lap, every morning I get up, in every preparation, in every meal, everything is focused on performing at my best, but I can’t accumulate enough laps due to the limit of the engine”

Fernando Alonso experienced a new setback this year due to another Honda engine problem, which it suffered in the Mexican GPin altitude. In fact, both he and his partner Lance Stroll they had to retire from the race on the same lap due to “abnormal pressure levels in the power unit systems.”

It happened a day after Fernando suffered a problem in the electrical system of the Japanese power unit, something that meant wasting a weekend in which his car was going very well and with which he was aiming for points.

Fernando Alonso has not had and will not have many options to join this season due to the enormous lack of engine power and its multiple initial problems. For this reason, he has continued (and will continue until the end of the course) working as hard as possible with the sole objective of being prepared for the weekends in which he would have the option of fighting at the top of the middle zone. QHearing that, it hurts even more for the Asturian that, when his car can be in that battle, everything will go to waste due to more reliability failures.

Therefore, when the Spaniard was told on official F1 television that it was “a weekend to forget”, he wanted to correct the journalist.: “Well, let’s hope it’s not a weekend to forget, but a weekend to learn.”

“The car is going very well, the problem is simply that it seems we can’t do more laps than the limit with this engine. So I hope that we have learned the lesson and that next year we will arrive better prepared,” said Fernando, looking towards the future, hoping that Honda will take an important step forward by 2027, since Aston Martin trusts to be on the right path in terms of the chassis for next year. But to shine and make a leap in classification, they need the Honda engine to accompany them.

Whatever happens, Fernando Alonso remembered that he continues to give his best and that he is not going to throw in the towel in the last four remaining races.

“We’ll try again, yes. I give it my all, you know, every time, every turn I take, every morning I get up, in every preparation I do, in every… I don’t know, in every meal I make… everything is focused on performing at my best behind the wheel, but I can’t accumulate enough laps,” he expressed, in final reference to the limitation of his engine in Mexico.
