The UAE shields one of its stars
The Australian cyclist Jay Vine has extended its contract with UAE Team Emirates-XRG until the end of 2029, as announced this Tuesday by the squad led by the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
“We can’t wait to see what the next three years will bring for you” is the message launched by the Emirati team on its official social media account, in which it announced the contract extension of the Townsville rider, who will turn 31 on November 16, in a clear commitment to the continuity of one of the most powerful squads in the world peloton.
Winner of the Tour Down Under twice (2023 and 2026) and third in the Tour de Romandie in 2025, Vine has participated six times in the Spanish LaVuelta – with four stages conquered, twice winner of the mountain ‘jersey’ (2024 and 2025) and a thirtieth place as the best place – and three in the Giro d’Italia.
However, he has never started the Tour de France, a test won by his team leader, Tadej Pogacaron five occasions.
Arrived in the UAE in 2023, his presence as a mountain and time trial specialist – in 2025 he was world runner-up in the specialty – has been of maximum support for the joint work of the Emirati squad.
His last race took place on October 18, when he was second – for the third consecutive year – in the Nations Trial, behind the Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe).
